Report Questionable Activity
Board staff work to effectively resolve cases of noncompliance informally when possible and appropriate. Examples of matters which are typically resolved with the cooperation of the regulated party without formal investigation include:
- Misplaced campaign signs

- Lack of attribution on published campaign materials
- Late-filed ethics or campaign disclosure reports
Contact our office if you have a concern that one of Iowa's government ethics or campaign disclosure laws is not being followed.

Filing a Formal Complaint
Filing a formal complaint begins legal proceedings as described in Iowa Code section 68B.32B. We encourage you to review these procedures before filing a formal complaint.
All formal complaints must include the name and address of the complainant, a statement of the facts believed to be true that form the basis of the complaint (including sources and approximate dates of the acts alleged), and a certification by the complainant under the penalty of perjury that the facts stated to be true are true to the best of the complainant's knowledge. Supporting documentation/evidence of alleged violations (not to exceed 20 pages) should be included when possible. Attachments to complaints must be sent to ethicsboard@iowa.gov
